Places worth a second look, surfaced around you or somewhere you plan to visit.
Waypoints appear on a living map: one route line connecting the places that belong together.
Each Waypoint brings together the location, images, historical context, interesting facts and interactive content — a photograph, a title, category tags, and a full narrative.
Audio interpretation brings a location to life with narration you can play on the spot. Availability depends on the particular Waypoint — not every location has audio.
A themed route: several waypoints woven into one adventure, with a map and a stop-by-stop itinerary.
Your status, the places you've reached, your journey progress and badges — a personal record, stored on your device.
Browse collections, explore the map, and open any waypoint: the three views at the heart of Heritage Explorer.
Collections, places and adventure routes, ready to explore.
Your dashboard: places, collections and journeys in one view.
Every place becomes a story — with its own images, history and detail.
Heritage Explorer isn't designed simply to tell you that a historic place exists. It is designed to help you understand why the place matters. Each Waypoint connects a physical location with the people, events and stories that shaped it.
A visited waypoint can become a photograph, a note, an audio memory, a badge, a recorded journey. This is what separates Heritage Explorer from a map or a directory.
Heritage Explorer is created by Waypoint Heritage, a Canadian company building digital experiences and systems for museums, heritage organizations and cultural communities.
Discover historic places, explore their stories and keep a record of where your journey takes you.
Discover the stories around you.
